Weighted Average Audit Workbench
Verify an AI-generated average selling price against the original rows. Calculate revenue per sold unit, check channel reconciliation, and flag missing or invalid inputs before accepting a result.
What this tool checks
An arithmetic-looking answer can be the wrong metric. This workbench divides total row revenue by total units; it never averages a list of prices as though every line sold the same quantity. It also reports the simple mean separately to expose the difference. Each row and channel remains visible for review.
All calculations take place inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded or sent to GuideHollow, and no AI model is called. This is a learning and preflight tool, not a replacement for your accounting system, spreadsheet engine or independent audit. Avoid entering private customer or company data.

Numbers are displayed to two decimal places, but calculations retain unrounded JavaScript numeric values. This utility does not model refunds, taxes, currencies or returns. For accounting-grade precision, reproduce the formula in an approved system.
Reproduce the reference result before using your own data
Our original, entirely fictional eight-row fixture is a control case. Before changing anything, run the sample and check for 8 rows, 27 units, 530 revenue and a weighted price of 530 ÷ 27 ≈ 19.63. The simple mean of listed prices is 153.25; it is not the per-unit sales price. The Web channel should report 7 units and 280 revenue; Store should report 20 units and 250 revenue.
The intentional edge cases make the exercise useful. Line L-106 has zero units and a listed price of 999. It contributes no revenue. Line L-107 has five units at an explicitly numeric zero price. It adds units but no revenue. Confusing these rows will change the result or conceal missing data.
Three independent checks
- Preservation: confirm that all eight original LineIDs are present and that a line has not been silently merged, invented or duplicated.
- Arithmetic: compute each line’s revenue as Units × UnitPrice; sum these amounts independently of the channel totals. For the original fixture they should sum to 530.
- Reconciliation: check that the Web and Store units add to 27 and their revenue adds to 530. Do not take the unweighted mean of their separate 40.00 and 12.50 prices; that would yield an incorrect 26.25.
Try two error-injection experiments
Quantity typo: restore the example, then change L-102 from 4 to 40 units. The expected totals become 63 units and 1,430 revenue; the weighted price becomes approximately 22.70. If an AI-written summary still shows 19.63, it reused stale arithmetic.
Missing price: restore the example, then erase L-107’s numeric zero from UnitPrice. The calculator must refuse the input. A blank is an unknown price, not a documented free unit; a spreadsheet that multiplies blanks as zero can otherwise conceal this error.
These tests confirm the reference arithmetic and validation rules for this fixture only. They do not measure the reliability of any AI model or establish that real transactions follow the fixture’s business rules.
